Biography
Working with silicone since 2019, Ever Grainger creates works that are a hybrid of sculpture, drawing and painting. By hand extruding with a DIY sealant gun and experimenting with freestanding and wall based works, dialogues are held with art materials and tools, disciplines and genres.
This evolving practice is the development of a long term testing of the nature of materiality and process, examining the push-pull of tools versus the input of the artist's hand. Settling on extrudable silicone as an uber-medium; art's histories, conventions and subject matter are all potential candidates for exploration.
Grainger was born in Liverpool and studied BA (Hons) Fine Art at Birmingham City University. After graduating with a first, she was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries (Victoria Miro London & Manchester Cornerhouse). This was followed by a residency with a solo presentation at New Art Gallery, Walsall. Recent works have been selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, 'Samples' curated by Plinth at Cromwell Place London, two works for the ING Discerning Eye and twice for The Royal Society of Sculptors Summer Show.
The artist currently lives South East, UK (Isle of Wight).
