Avobe: Digital anaglyphs for red and blue 3D glasses, 2005
Originally digital projected for Imax 3D glasses.
This body of work was produced in response to a residency with Cultural City Network Graz, Austria. The ocassion was to mark the end of WWII and was an exchange between the twinned cities of Graz and Coventry.
I asked to be able to and aided in photographing the homes of people who were both alive at the end of the war and still living in Graz - in stereo 3D. I had begun to look after the image archive of the Stereoscopic Society of GB and was struck by the everyday intimate homelives captured in stereo by its members.
The resulting room images were projected for polarised 3D glasses together with sounds recorded at the time, exhibited at ESC Gallery, Graz. A second gallery room was set up with furniture loaned from a charity that re-sold furniture from the recently deceased. A multitude of small 3D hand-viewers showed room details and close ups of objects that had been photographed in the process.
